What is gasification?

Gasification doesn’t actually burn the municipal solid waste, instead It breaks the molecules apart with heat in absence of air, and then recombines them to form synthetic gases (SYNGAS)

Syngas composed primarily of Hydrogen – H2, Carbon monoxide- CO, Carbon dioxide – CO2 and methane – CH4

After the syngas is cleaned, it can be used in gas turbines, internal combustion engines or boilers to produce heat or generate electricity. Can also be converted to bio fuel or bio gas



Gas comprises Hydrogen, Methane, Ethylene, Carbon-monoxide and carbon-dioxide

The gas has no Nitrogen, NOx, SOx or H2S

Syngas can be used to fuel motors or boilers

Syngas is also a precursor for diesel, paraffin, ethanol, methanol and others



Figures 1 ton/h of organic waste:

  • Input:
    1 ton of municipal waste per hour, average Energy content 16 MJ/kg.
    Average dry matter : 85 %

    (Sludge, paper, plastic, wood, etc.)

  • Typical Output:
    - Electricity : 1,03 MW
    - Thermal energy :1,6 MW
    - Bio char : 150 --200 kg /h
    - If converting the syn gas to fuel,
    - Ethanol : 240 -350 lph
